Julie Watson
Julie Watson spent more than forty years teaching around the world and in UK higher education before retiring to the Isle of Wight in 2016.
She has published research in her academic field and has travelled extensively during her career. Soon after coming to live on the Isle of Wight, she took up kayaking, joined Wight Writers and started to take her creative writing more seriously.
Her first book, Travel Mementos, published by Beachy Books Partner Publishing in 2021, is a collection of personal stories about some of the faraway places she has visited. She is now writing a second volume of travel stories and a humorous book of cat stories.
When not writing, she teaches English to refugees, paddles her kayak up the creeks of the Western Yar, takes an interest in natural history and when at home, is at the beck and call of a small feline house guest.
